The
above text is
“written” in the Navajo Language.
Because of the limitations of the web’s text characters, some
words will not appear as it is written in text. The Navajo are a group
of people located in the Southwestern United States. The previous
sentence roughly translates to:
Hello, My name is Loren John. Water’s Edge
People born for
the Meadow people is my clan.
This
is the greeting
that many of the Navajo
People use to greet each
other. If you cannot tell by now, I am Navajo. I am currently residing
in Mescalero, New Mexico, on the Mescalero Apache Reservation.
That´s about 5 hours away form the Navajo Nation. I work
full-time at the Alamogordo Daily News, and I am going part-time at New
Mexico State University to continue my education for graphic design.
I was born in Gallup, New
Mexico in the year
1982. I grew up in a
Navajo/English speaking home with my grandparents for more than 22
years. I completed High School in Tohatchi in the year 2000 with a rank
of 8th in a class of 104 seniors.
I
went to school
at the University of New
Mexico-Gallup Branch looking
for something that would keep my interest going. I found that Graphic
Design was something I wanted to pursue after looking at some of the
work on the walls on the top south floor of Calvin Hall. I saw some art
work hanging and thought, “Now that’s something I
want to learn.”
At the
moment, I am considering going to DigiPen in Washington to continue my
education in Digital Mediums. Hopefully I would have earned enough
wisdom to further my career and eduction.
On
my spare-time, I
like to do many things.
Drawing, reading, learning
new things, tinkering around with stuff, are among my interests. I like
to play around with HTML.
